skyPortals
Whether called Enterprise Portal, Corporate Portal, or Business Portal, a web gateway into the unified databases of an organization has become the management tool of choice for the world's leading companies. Portals are expensive, costing hundreds of millions of dollars for Fortune 500 companies.
Although they cost a fraction of the leading packages, skyPortals use the same design principles and architecture, including:
- easily cloned navigation systems for consistent look, feel, and behavior throughout an organization's main web site and subsidiary sites
- "loosely-coupled" web application middleware to implement a wide range of web services - content management, commerce, collaboration, communication, personalization, and support.
- metadata management to standardize terms like customer, client, prospect, contact, member, subscriber, etc.
- relational database back end
- easy integration of legacy databases with ODBM schema
- XML data exchange
- multilingual support OIL
The three current skyPortal modules used to define the web client interface are:
- portalBuilder - arrange your navigation and content elements on the page
- navBuilder - create and manage vertical or horizontal navigation panels with Javascript rollovers. Text in the rollover is easily edited along with destination hyperlinks for rapid site updating
- styleBuilder - allows you to create and manage named "styles" (fonts, colors, sizes, etc.) for use with navigation panels
